Sushi Café–Little Rock, Arkansas

Sushi Cafe on Urbanspoon

I just have to get better at this picture-taking thing!  Hubby and I went to Sushi Café this week, I took one picture and then got so involved in my food and conversation that I completely forgot to snap pictures.  You ’ll just have to trust me.

When I say that Sushi Café is absolutely one of those places that I LOVE, it’s an understatement.  Both of us are spoiled by the deliciousness that abounds here.  We’ve tried finding other sushi restaurants in Arkansas…all over Arkansas  actually…that will satisfy but none do.  We always come back here, and we always  leave well fed and eager to go back.

We have never been there for lunch, but they do have lunch specials.  We don’t stray away from the sushi menu except for the wok-fired edamame, so I can’t speak to the burgers – Kobe or otherwise.  I don’t go there for those.  I go for the tastiest, freshest sushi I can find.  And did I mention delicious?

Our preference is to sit at the sushi bar.  We’ve developed a trust relationship with Alex, the head sushi person (who hails from New York BTW).  He knows that we want whatever is spicy and fresh.  He will generally fix us what he calls his “Alex Special”  I never know what’s in this roll, but it is always terrific.

Sometimes we get a little treat that begins or ends our meal.  This is what Alex prepared for us on the last visit (the only photo I managed to take!). Fresh Ahi tuna and spiciness.  Absolute yum!

They have recently expanded Sushi Café from this very small, almost hole-in-the-wall place.  It now boasts an expanded dining room and outdoor seating that can be enclosed.

The service is always right on…friendly and quick.  Typically, this is one busy place.  Do not let that keep you from going, however.  You can make reservations, but we never do. As I said, we are sit at the sushi bar people.

The atmosphere here is lively.  It’s noisy.  It’s “let’s get friendly.”  Don’t go here for a romantic evening.  Go here for great food and fun.  Oh, and try the Oh My Gosh roll…just once…when you have lots of people to feed.  It’s huge.  It’s fun.  It’s really, really good.

Try the Valentine Roll for dessert.  You won’t be disappointed.
